A coffee shop and packaging inspired by my love of kissaten. Kissatens are Japanese-style tea and coffee shops, often in the Showa era (1926–1989) style, similar to the Midcentury illustration style. It is dying out in numbers because they are often privately owned by the older generation, and since the 90s, there’s been a rise of Western-style cafes and chain coffee shops all over Japan. The shop interior is a modern take on the kissaten, while the packaging is inspired by Showa and Midcentury style.
